ParticipantRe: Amica AWCT12L noise from belt/motor
Thanks but the retailer has now taken this up with the manufacturer. I did check the belt when I changed the motor and it looked fine. I know the feeling when customers seem to know more than you. Humble pie all round!!
Thanks,

Thanks again for the comments. Yes would agree that as an engineer of 30 years standing I would love to find the fault so that I would recognise it again. Part of being a good engineer I think is to have a good memory for faults and causes but the customer and retailer do not have the infinite patience that this would entail. We have already spent two hours on this job, (50 minutes of that waiting for the noise to occur), and have only heard it twice, fleetingly. We are not dumping the problem but both customer and retailer want the w/m changed. As regards the belt, we have all heard this sort of noise from a multi-vee belt, but it would be a constant noise. This is very intermittent.

Thanks for the reply Ken.
We are repairing the machine on behalf of Amica who asked if we had sought tech advice. Years ago I had a similar noise from several Servis machines over a period of time and the fault was due to the module allowing the motor to run at max speed for a split second. With a full load, the resulting slipping of the belt sounded exactly as this Amica does. The module was changed first therefore and when that didn’t work Amica sent the motor and mains filter. All mechanical aspects have been discounted as the noise is very random, sometimes will occur after 25 minutes, only occurs on the wash speed and only when the drum is full.
I was only checking really to see if anybody else had the same problem. If there are no known tacho or module faults then I will leave it to Amica and the retailer to sort out. Many thanks,
