    Thanks again. I have dismantled it and it was full of gunk and limescale, we live in a very hard water area. I have cleaned it out and the programme has run through fully with hot water and everything is normal again.

    Thanks very much for the advice. Is there an easy way to locate it and secondly to test it. I have looked for an on-line diagram but to no avail. Many thanks for your help so far.

    The water itself does not get hot, but there is some heat inside the compartment.
