Re: bosch smv50c00gb ‘water supply light’

    Thought I’d update the thread…

I’ve just called an engineer out (I figured the £50 call out fee would be worth it for the confidence in knowing what exactly is going on with the machine)

So, the engineer managed to track down the problem to the heater element. No continuity across the terminals… This is what’s causing the ‘click’ as the machine is about to start its cycle…

Apparently, the heater element is an integral part of the pump, which means the whole thing needs to be replaced. The part alone is in the region of £150 +VAT +labour to fit, so it looks like we might be better off replacing the whole machine.

Will look into the option of replacing the pump myself, but with a 1 year old in the house, I neither have the time to pull it all apart, nor can I face doing the dishes the old fashioned way until I do finally get the time to do it!

Thanks for all your help on this Martin!

    Much appreciated!

Thanks again for the quick response Martin!

    Couple more questions…

Is replacing the matrix a DIY job?
Is it likely to be anything else? – Control unit for example?
I only ask as if I’m going to be replacing more and more parts, it will be more cost effective for me to get an engineer in to do more tests…

Thanks again for all your help!

Re: bosch smv50c00gb ‘water supply light’

    Further to my last post…

I thought I’d try removing the electrical connection to the reed switch as I ran a rinse cycle to see if that made any difference…

the cycle changed to: Pump for about a minute as usual, then a continuous intake of water, and the machine started beeping… So I reconnected the reed switch connection and the beeping and water intake stopped. Then resumed as before…ie. clicked off before completing a cycle…

    Any ideas?

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for the quick reply…

I took your advice and ordered and fitted the reed switch to no avail.

The cycle is still as before: 1bout 1 minute of pumping, then a short intake of water, then a longer, 20 seconds intake of water, more pumping, then a click…

Unfortunately, there’s no screen on this model, (as you probably know) so I’m showing no error codes – just the ‘End’ light is illuminated upon opening the door.

Any further ideas on what to replace next? Or am I best to call in an engineer?

    Kind regards once again!

    Matt
