Hi Dave. The new door lock has done the trick, all for just over £20 including postage.

Thank you very much Dave. Very promising that you have seen the same symptom and sorting the lock fixed it. I will order a new lock and let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.Thank you Dave for the very quick response. I have now had a play to get the childproof lock on or off. Don’t think it is that. The key symbol is not showing nor does the Start button want to do anything other than flash (red as normal) and beep twice, when I press it. Think I need to try replacing the lock before I replace the machine.
Thank you for sending the link. I searched for my model WAE28468UK but it is not showing for this door lock … although there must be 100 other bosch models listed. Is this a generic part to worth a go ?
