ParticipantRe: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!
Just reporting back in case it helps someone else.
I put all the new caps in and the motor fan still did not work. Got the fan tested and it worked, so I knew I didn’t need a new fan.
So I just bit the bullet and went this morning and got a complete new board and it worked. 😀 😀 😀

It’s me again. I ordered the kit from UKWhitegoods and replaced the C1. I kept the back off and turned the fridge/freezer on. I noticed that the fan to the left of the back board is not turning.
I’m just wondering if the fan motor is faulty. Can anyone help me with this? should I just replace the rest of the caps and see if it works or could I need a new fan motor.
I have searched this thread till I am google eyed and can’t see any reference to which cap controls the fan.
I really would appreciate any info. Thanks.

I viewed this thread three years ago and at that time I replaced the front and back boards in my Whirlpool FF, S20BRBB20, 858615215001. Everything has been working … until now.
The fridge is not cold enough and the chilled water is not cold at all. I think the freezer is ok and I am not getting any strange noises or anything else.
I took the back panel off the freezer to check, but found no ice build up. The fan seems to be working. It goes off when I open the fridge and back on when I close it.
Could I be looking at another board replacement?
I have just realised that the part of the frame between the fridge and the freezer is really warm. I’m getting worried now. Should I turn it off?
