Just to complete the thread, I’ve investigated the issue and found that it was a metal trim above the cupboard (and machine) doors which was causing the issue. The strip is held on with clips to the carcass and one of these had moved which pushed the strip forwards. This stopped the door from closing properly, unless it was held. I was able to reposition the clip and get the strip back into the right place. I’ve put the door back on and have just completed a wash cycle with the door and without holding it closed.

Great news (for me and based on a sample of one). Removing the door has allowed a programme to complete without the door having to be held shut. Your experience shines through Dave, thank you.

I now need to work out what is fouling the door and adjust it as that should enable me to refit the panel. It looks like the trim fitted by the kitchen people is the issue and shouldn’t be too bad to sort out.

As it happens I do have a stone worktop and there is a batton running over the top of the machine. Sounds like I could have a simple fix and so will try taking the door off tomorrow (wasn’t allowed to today for some reason). The kitchen fitter screwed through the machine casing (outside the door seal) into the cabinets on either side, but it’s an easy thing to check and so worth trying first.
