I’m delighted to report that everything is now working fine. I’m not quite sure what did it but I reamed out the valves and re-ran the pipes, which resulted in an increase in flow rate. Thanks again for your help and advice. Greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Mike

Thanks Martin for the explanation. I’m wondering if, for some reason, the water pressure in the block has dropped. The fire hoses in the block are showing as being pressurised at 4 bar (I presume that they run at the same pressure as the domestic cold water system). I’ve rechecked the flow rate and am getting 6 litres/min. I see that Bosch specify a minimum flow rate of 8 litres/min, so think that I’m a bit stuck.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your warning. Very timely! I have now cleaned both saddle valves, which were very corroded. The water input flow rate now sounds higher but I’m still getting an E 5 error on the Fluff Clean cycle. Can you please tell me what triggers the ‘Fluff Clean required’ and whether there are any other filters that one can manually clean?
Kind regards

Hi Dave & Martin,
I’m pleased to report that after switching the water input supply pipe to a second self cutting valve (which was being used for the dishwasher) that I have got the machine to complete both ‘quick wash’ and ‘rinse and spin’ cycles – although in both cases the timer jumped back a couple of minutes during the routines. The ‘fluff clean’ cycle completed on the second attempt (the first stopped again after 10 minutes with an E5 error), however the ‘fluff clean required’ lamp is still flashing. I will try stripping down and cleaning the self cutting valve to see if I can increase the input flow rate, in the hope that this might get the routine to work properly. Otherwise, I should be pleased to hear if you have any further comments or suggestions. Thanks again for your help.Kind regards
Mike

Hi Dave, Thanks again for your further input. The machine has been working fine for a couple of years. I did check that there was water coming out of the valve but I’ll check the flow rate and have a look at the cutting tail.

Thanks again Martin. I think that this sounds highly likely. I presume that the water supply is gravity fed. The machine is actually in a 6th floor ski apartment in France. The flow rate from the cold water tap is approx 5 litres/minute. I get the impression that the installation was done by a cowboy, as the the supply feed uses a self cutting saddle valve and there is a piece of standard flexible hosing between the valve and the Aquastop. I’m tempted to try bi-passing the Aquastop to see what happens. What do you think?

Thank you, Martin. Can you please tell me if these are serviceable or whether I just need to get a replacement?

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your quick reply. The outlet hose is connected to a multi-way fitting above the U trap to the kitchen sink. There doesn’t appear to be any problem with the rate of water being pumped out. I checked the drain pump and it was clean.
Very little seems to happen after the first intake of water in either the Super Quick wash cycle or Fluff Cleaning mode except for a slow turning of the drum after a minute or two.
