I understand the concept of semi-seizing with age Greg, but in terms of the pump, how easy would it be to fit a new one?

I am the sort of person who puts on rubber-soled shoes to change a light bulb.

Thanks Martin. I’ll get someone to look at it. Unfortunately, following your earlier suggestion, my postcode didn’t throw up any forum people locally.

    Many thanks again.

    Re: Bosch Prewash

Thanks for your help Martin. What you suggest sounds expensive.

The machine is probably 6+ years old. Perhaps a new machine might be a better cost-effective option?

It’s possibly a coincidence but the washer did work fine until a plumber, investigating a leak turned it upside down, and later, while checking the machine’s behaviour, span the dials this way and that as if a clue to its problems might be found in a certain but unknown combination. I mention this wondering whether the problem could lie in the programmer. Hopefully a cheaper option!

    Thanks again for your help.
