ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWZ121 how to test thermostats?
Thanks. To the left hand side of my photo, yes?
So to test them I take the spade connectors off? Then test for open or closed circuit, 0 ohms or lots of ohms? And I want 0 ohms, assuming the heater is cool?
What are the two long things, btw? Thermocouples? or just terminals.
Thanks for your patience with this.

” alt=”” class=”bbcode-img”>I did take photos, I remember now:1. Are the two things that are roughly pencil shaped (short fat pencils!) the thermostats?
2. How do I measure the resistance? Yes, I understand it’s either zero ohms or infinity.I realise it’s a switch.
3. I took two spade connectors off those two things, put the multimeter probes on each, and got 26 ohms, roughly speaking.

Thanks for your replies Martin. We must be at cross purposes here. I can’t really understand how I’m supposed to measure the thermostat resistance. The multimeter is digital.
The heater’s back in so I can’t take a photo. And as the tumbler drier seems to be working OK we’ll just have to leave it for now.
Thanks for your efforts.

One on each, yes? That’s what I did and it read 26 ohms. So OK then?

Thanks. I must be really thick, you’ll have to bear with me. I take the spade connectors off, yes? Where do I place the multimeter probes?

Thanks.
How do I check the stats. Where do I actually put the probes of my multimeter?

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWZ 121
thanks. I’m sure there were no bolts in it. I can’t even see any sign that there once were any bolts.
I’ve actually paid for a pdf of the service manual (though not arrived yet). Hopefully that will say what guage/length they should be, but presumably any self tapping type things that are the right dia to cut a thread and not too long to bottom out should do.
