ParticipantRe: whirlpool washing machine stops mid cycle
😀 Thought I would give you an update on my washing machine. After taking the front of the washing machine off and removing a plastic milkey clear colour part (sorry don’t know what part it was despite searching on here) we found the tiniest little polystyrene ball in it. It appears as though the polystyrene ball ocassionally raised and blocked in the narrow part making the machine stop midway. When the machine stopped and we removed the pump etc., the machine would work for a couple of washes which was likely because by tipping the machine on its side it had dislodged the polystyrene ball temporarily.
I have waited and done numerous washes before replying so as to be sure that this is the only problem there was.
A big thankyou to you all for replying though as I would not have had the courage to try and find the fault myself without having the forum for help

ParticipantRe: whirlpool 3 yr old washing machine stops mid cycle
Have taken the motor brushes out and they do not look very worn at all, still long and shiney. I can add that when the machine stops mid cycle the red on light stays on so there is still power to the machine. Any further ideas at all as to what could be causing the problem would be appreciated.

Thanks for your quick answer 🙂 . Looks like hubby and I will be getting the machine out again when he gets in from work. Is it easy for keen novices like us to be able to remove the part, tell if the part is worn and fit the new carbon brushes?

Thanks for your advice. The engineer had allready ordered the part and it has arrived in stock today and he will be coming to fit the aquastop on Saturday so I will let you know if this has fixed the problem. Perhaps I should feel more positive that I do. Is an aquastop expensive?
