Thanks for that – I had sent a request using the link to spare parts but had just got the response it wasn’t stocked and wasn’t advised it could be purchased albeit with a lead time..

I have now ordered the part and look forward to the fun and games trying to fit it.

    Hi Wizard,

Just wanted to say thanks again – nearly 3 weeks later and no problems so far so I think complete defrost over 48hrs has done the trick

I’m really pleased to have got the advice as I was on the point of spending around £400 on a new one as I was worried I’d end up paying over £100 for a repair on an old machine and that it wouldn’t be cost effective and although I have some savings I have better things to spend those on!

Because it was supposedly frost-free model and also because apart from a small amount of ice on the floor of the freezer only there was no sign of frost building up it never crossed my mind that there could be ice building up that I couldn’t see!!

    Hi Wizard

Thanks for your good advice. I defrosted the freezer over the weekend and so far all is well…

I see I got the FD number wrong as you said – it should be FD7405 so I’m hoping that makes it a bit younger than my dad!

    Thanks again!

    Hi LJDomestics,

    Thanks for your reponse

No I don’t know how to check the thermostat – can you advise?

I’m looking to decide whether to have the FF repaired or buy a new one depending on cost-effectiveness of repair.. if it’s the thermostat would this be a cheapish repair?
