Is the general disapproval of Indesit washing machines based on recent makes or have they always been bad?

I’ve just had to replace my WE12S after 11 years. Only in the last couple of years did I have any kind of problem, (occasionally, the spin cycle would be a bit off). A few weeks ago it decided not to drain anymore, I opened the filter and drained it and found nothing clogging it up so I put it on a quick-wash just to try it out – same thing happened, no draining. I decided it was probably more cost effective to get a new machine than to pay for a new pump/call-out etc.

I was going to replace it with another Indesit but after many hours of searching forums/reviews etc. I finally opted for a Bosch WAE244SO – a perfectly capable machine that “does what it says on the tin”, it washes and spins well but, Sweet Jesus, it’s noisy!! Even the wash cycle is noisy never mind the spin and I’ve used a couple of different cycles now!

If I moved house and the new owners wanted to buy the Bosch I’d let them and get something else. I don’t think I’d miss it and the way it sounds I don’t think it’ll last me the same as the Indesit and I’m not sure I’d want it to.

I’m sure this is going to upset all you Indesit haters but I miss my old machine. It was a good little workhorse that I used a couple of times a week (on the proper cycles, never a quick-wash). I gave it a clean out every now and then and it served me well.

RIP Indesit WE12S. 😥
