Heater coil now checked, and motor brushes checked.
Still no joy.
Can ANYONE help identify which terminals should be connected on the pressure sensing valve, as this is now the ONLY doubt I have in my mind before ordering a new board.
I’ll be eternally grateful if anyone can help – as I now need to get this sorted ASAP and order a board if thst’s my problem. Just wanna clear up this final thing before going for parts.
Cheers guys,
Mike

Miles away bud, but appreciate the offer-shame, as I’d have took it too for spares. Saves it ending up in the tip. It does sound terminal by the sounds of things yes – sorry to hear it.
I can’t really afford a new machine, and I think mine’s plenty fixable so I’m gonna struggle forward with it, thanks to help on here I think it’s possible.
Cheers,

Cheers Penguin, I know you have a life mate – sorry, I’m just impatient 😳 lol
Inlet valves are 4kohm each, which I would think is ok ?
Pump tested out fine and ran perfectly when taken out of the system.
How can I check brushes ? and how can I check the heater and earthing of it ?
Cheers bud, I appreciate your help as you know. I’m happy to go for a board if that’s what you think it’ll be, just don’t wanna wait for parts only to find I have the same problem.
How do the inlet valves operate ? As I said I have 230v at both terminals permanently, at what point should that change, and where does the change come from ? i.e. what terminal, and what component pulls the voltage down for it ? Does it come from the mechanical timer ? As that’s where the grey/black wire for each valve appears to come from.
Cheers P45,
Mike

Penguin45 – are you there ?
Looking for my font of all washing machine knowledge 😆
Hope you had a good weekend, 😉

ParticipantRe: diplomat apm 8552 Help!!
Whereabouts are you life-is-good ? May be able to help you once I bottom the problem with mine this week ?
I feel I’m not a million miles away with mine now, just waiting on some more of Penguin45’s great knowledge and I think it’s possible to repair. The problem’s not motor on mine, and there’s no water damage. The issue is no fill, therefore the logic won’t let the machine continue through it’s cycle.

Just as an aside, can someone verify the correct colours/connections on the pressure check valve ? Obviously it was taken off to be tested, and I’m 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it’s back on correctly, but there’s the tiniest shred of doubt in my mind now I can here the PCB relays working. Just wanna make sure I have everything covered 😕

Hi Penguin, relays came this afternoon.
Have swapped both the relays on the board, but no success. Before I rush to try and get a board tho, I’m a little puzzled…….
I’m still only getting two of the three familiar clicks when the machine tries to start – however, one is cleary the door lock, and I can now definitely tell another is coming from one of the relays on the board. So where exactly should all 3 relay clicks be coming from ? As I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure my issue may be the board now ?
Also, what should the voltages be at the pos and neg terminals of the water fill valves for the incoming water supply ? As I seem to have 230v at both !?!? is this correct ? I know only the red wire is fed from the PCB, and the ‘neg’ on each valve goes to the mechanical timer control. Is it pulled down to zero from here to make them operate ? Is it possible I may have an issue here rather than the board ?
Many thanks in advance mate – do appreciate your help.

Not sure if you needed the last bit but put it up just incase.

Thought as much. Had a scan over the pc side of the board and I ‘think’ I can see a tiny shred of evidence of arc’ing between two terminals on one relay. It’s hard to tell as the lacquer is thick in places, but I feel it may be worth a £2 shot and replace the relay before splashing out on a new board or condemning the machine.
Any ideasa where to get a board from if it comes to it ? On the whitegoods website the one listed for my m/c just says no longer produced, and no other part available.
Thanks for your help bud – you’ve been great ! Nice to have 2 brains on it (one with obviously more experience haha)

Cheers Penguin.
Had read today that the PCB’s are no longer available – is that not the case ?
Worth stripping the two relays from the board and testing/replacing ? Thought it may be burnt out coil etc. hard to see as the casing’s orange instead of the usual clear one 👿
I’ll pull all the connectors off, clean and refit but everything looks in good condition to be fair. Any idea whether it’s possible to get a circuit diagram for the board anywhere ?
Thanks again,
Mike

Just checked the resistance and it’s 3.1Kohm which seems right as they’re 2 6.2Kohm 7 watt resistors in parallel. Any further thoughts ?

Excellent, cheers penguin. I’m on it now. Will they have to be removed from the circuit to effectively test them or can they be left on the board (no idea of the rest of the circuit so I’m unsure in this case).
Know which ones you mean, felt them before when everything was on and they were warm (kinda to be expected though I thought, as they’re fairly high wattage items from memory)
Thanks again, I’ll post results shortly.
