ParticipantFor anyone reading this for future info, the ring fits fine on internal and external dimensions but you do have to take about 3mm or so from its depth. I took it to my pals place today as he has a lathe. It will be going back together shortly

I found the dimensions for it specified on a european sellers website. It’s bang on internal and external but 4mm deeper. A slight interference fit on the shaft. Dropped straight on with a bit of heat. Waiting for one more bearing to come then I’ll offer it up. If its OK then woohoo otherwise I’ll just take 4mm off it.
Hotpoint NM11 1045 wc a uk which is whirlpool on the model label.
the more info we have, the better we can fix the unfixable

ParticipantA few minutes after I posted it, I think Ive found the answer!
Ring part number 1240178002 should be 41mm ID x 35mm ID x 17mm Length

Looking at the line drawing (so not a photo of the tank unit) the plastic tank is sealed which normally means you would have to cut through the plastic to get the drum and so the spider out though perhaps Hotpoint have redesigned the tank so this is not the case anymore? Anyway, let us know how you get on. Hope you succeed.
Splitting the tub was a PITA but it is achievable.
However!!!!!!
I think Ive found the correct ring!!! A european site says the ring size for a Zanussi part number 1100991221 (which seems to be fairly universal) is 41x17x3mm and that is pretty much bang on.

ParticipantI didn’t have to cut it. I managed to split it with minimal damage.
I split it to get to the bearing which had gone. Its about 6 years old or so and out of warranty so nothing to lose.
One half of the tub has bolt holes so I’ve followed them through and can bolt it back together one the sealant is applied.
Firstly however, I’m going to have to make the ring because it’s just not available.
20 quid into it so far and only need the ring so id say it was worth the gamble 🙂

you need a non porous, non corroding ring

ParticipantIve already split the tub and changed the bearings/seal so if thats the case, I might have to persuade my old pal to make something on the lathe… I dont suppose anyone knows the best material to make it from? Im guessing it cant be too hard so steel is out of the question?
