Re: Bosch SGS5342GB/17 FD8105 excessive cycle time, not drain

Sorry Greg, mistook white/green for earth. But yes, it’s open circuit.

So my next question is; is changing the heater straight-forward? I’ll go check out the price of a replacement.

Ok, sorry to be a pain but I’ve had a look in the right hand side, and I’m still not sure if I’ve found the heater. To the left is the motor, to the right of that is an oval shaped white plastic fitting with a red wire one side, some earths etc. Is that the heater unit? If so it’s o/c between red and earth. Can you confirm if this is the heater, and if so where should I measure?

    Thanks again!

    Mike.

    Thanks for all your help.

I cleaned out the matrix so the red breather valve now operates. I tried it on a wash but it just stays at 2H (for an hour, after which I reset it) and the water is stone cold. I’m thinking about checking the heater but can’t see it! Could the water be not heating because of blockages or is this something else? Water comes in and, if reset, drains out fine.

Re: Bosch SGS5342GB/17 FD8105 excessive cycle time, not drain

Ok, here’s an update; took the lid and sides off and on the left hand side there’s a plastic matrix, or manifold, a series of pipes. In the top left corner there is a build up of brown residue. There seems to be a red valve or something within the build up. What’s the best way of cleaning this out? Or will it have to be replaced? Or, the first question I should ask maybe, is it relevant to the problem?

Thanks for all the help so far.

So where do you recommend I get in to check for blockages? Top? Bottom? Side?

Had an Indesit that went wrong years ago, the engineer tipped it up and got in through the base. Where do I start with the Bosch? I hope it’s just a blockage…

Ran a pre-rinse tonight, all went fine, but then I don’t think it has to heat the water for this.

Re: Bosch SGS5342GB/1,7 FD8105 excessive cycle time, not drai

Thanks, Greg, for your response. Here’s the latest…

Loaded up with salt and two dishwasher cleaners. Ran at 70 (hottest) but outside of door not that hot. Opened door and water was warm, but not 70 degrees. Shut door and instead of carrying on from where it left off, it reverted to 2H and started again. Ran it again with a dishwasher cleaner, and noted that the time ticks down, then sometimes jumps up again.

On both occaisions it stuck at 1, with the dishwasher audibly still running. Did a reset, and it drained, with only an inch of water left in the bottom of the filter well. Is this normal?

So, is this the dreaded error code 1? Does it mean it’s not heating? The interior of the dishwasher was warm, but not hot. The warmth may have just come from the pumps I imagine, as usually if I open the door mid cycle it’s like a sauna.

I don’t know what to try next. I can measure the resistance of the element if that’s the next logical step, or are there more things to try first?

    Thanks again for your help.
