I agree, but try telling your elderly father that ha ha.
I agree on Bosch, it’s what I have now.

ELDAR59 wrote:There should be a filter with your new fridge though? Water filters last between 6 and 12 months. The filter light on the fridge (if there is one) will come on after 6 or 12 months. This is normally just on time, not on the amount of water you’ve actually drawn off.
So is it more of the amount of water then used then? Any guides? I could use it as how many I refill the tank or something?

About to order it just was wondering on the time so I can time it correct for setting up etc as the old one will be taken away at same time.
Reason getting a water dispenser type is to cut down on the bottles water so yeh. How long so they last, didn’t realise be this much though!!

Ah so I have to leave it unplugged for 2 hours first, then 2 hours plugged in to get to temperature.
Also the manual I’ve downloaded for a Samsung FF may get, the RL58GPEIH, says it has a water filter in. I’ve done a quick google and it says the filter is £31!?!? For a replacement. Is this correct? How long do they last, is there no alternative replacements?
Thanks

Which model please? American or standard?

A good read here on American refrigeration here and then this one on fridge freezers.
From your’e measurements I don’t think you are going to get an American fridge freezer that size. If you can create the space then I would recommend one of the original “American” ones like Maytag, Amana etc and leave the Korean ones alone like LG and Daewoo unless budget says otherwise.
If you have to go down the standard fridge freezer route then I would look at a 70cm width machine which will give you more internal space. There isn’t a lot out there but may be worth researching. Also remember to check the depths as well as a lot of them are deeper than your’e 61cm.
When it comes to shopping preferences I will always go to a specialist electrical retailer first as they are unbiased and are customer focused, secondly John Lewis and then the internet. If you are looking at purely price then you will need to research yourself thoroughly before buying from the net. When it comes to the net Appliances online and OGormans are probably about the best ones.

thanks Don. Having more research to
day it looks like an American is out as you say. I think, although we’re trying to move and probably the new house would have space, we need a new one now really, and will have to be a standard one.Agree with trying to get a 70cm+ one to give more space, we wanted a large one. Also I will accept a little bit more depth if sticking out a little, but obviously the less sticking out the better.
Also wife still saying she wants a drinks dispenser one (water thingy on front). When I had a look in Currys, the basic ones, were literally just a spout that you push to let water out of the tank. No filters or anything. Are they just a fad? useful? suppose will keep the water cool, but have to be changed often? or is it ok to open a bottled water, pour in and leave for a few days before replacing?
Dont think there’s any specialist retailers in high street local tbh, online probably better. JL always been good, but thir prices are much more than say Currys, not sure if they do any old price match?

Sorry to thread jump, but I’ve just asked on a thread about FF recommendations.
I’ve had a Bosch FF for at least 15+ years but now does need replacing. We also have other Bosch white goods and always been decent.
So you say that Liebherr and Miele are the best? Is Bosch any good?
Please see my thread for full explanation request.
Thanks
