Re: Bendix Autowasher 1000 Deluxe Heater Element

So I found a clear plastic tube about the diameter of a 2p piece leading from the hose to the pump which I guess is the expansion vessel. It contained a reasonable amount of crud lining the sides but not blocked and I gave it a good clean out.
UK Whitegoods have now told me the heater for this machine is obselete, so I guess that means the part I ordered from them was incorrect. My mistake, not theirs. I’m not sure what difference this would make as it appeared to fit quite happily, but I suppose a slightly different shape might mean it’s now touching the side of the tub.
Anyway, the part is available elsewhere and I’ll see how I get on with that.

    Cheers

That sounds like it could well be the problem. I’ve now disconnected the heater and the machine is filling above the element but maybe there was a load which didn’t. I’ll certainly check it out and let you know what I find.

    Re: Replaceable bearings

Thanks again for your thoughts. Just took a look at the spares on this site and found a suitable heater element for under £10 so I think I’ll stick with the Bendix after all!

    😉

    Thanks for the reply.
I guess if they fail in other ways I would hope to fix them, but if the bearings fail on one of these machines I need a new one. My hang-up is that my Bendix bearings failed after about 7 years and are now (7 years on) becoming noisy again. Should I assume that the average life of the bearings in the new sealed tubs is substantially better than that?
