ParticipantRe: Solid Hotplate on Neff hob
Point taken, Washman, thanks for feedback and I hope the following is more useful for anyone kind enough to look through it:
There is no code or distinguishing ID on the hob itself but the original (1986) instruction manual is labelled “C4EE and EP4E hobs”.
The hob is white, with four radiant electric hotplates. The two at the back are solid hotplates (left, 1kW and righthand,1.5kW, both with ‘red dot’ centres) and the two at the front are automatic hotplates with simmerstat centres (left, 2kW and righthand, 1.5kW). I needed a replacement for the front right hotplate simply because the chrome surround broke. So I’ve bought a replacement from ukwhitegoods and it looks a good match in every way except the replacement hob has 2 one-and-a-half-inch long (not 100mm, I got in a muddle about metric conversions, sorry) screws (diameter 5/32″) emerging from the underside of the hotplate; ie they point downwards once the hotplate is fitted to the hob. I think these would allow earth connections to be screwed to them but the part came without extra bolts, and that’s what’s making me wonder. The old 1986-vintage hotplate instead has two small brackets attached to the underside of the hotplate which allow other items such as the earth connection and the bottom backplate to be screwed to them. I can almost see my way forward – simply by finding some bolts with 5/32″ internal diameter and securing the earth connection to the replacement hotplate that way – but would appreciate the views of those who recognise the situation. -
