ParticipantRe: Siemens WM12P360GB Spin Problem
Update to this problem which is still not resolved:
Motor brushes are fine. Half-worn already (14m old) but still good enough.
Machine seems very sensitive to a heavy load and will spin normally when a light, varied mix of washing is in there (ie easy for the drum to distribute evenly relatively quickly?). Heavy items like towels and bath mats are troublesome and will often take 3-4 attempts at spinning to get it to work properly. This has me thinking that it is
a. an over-sensitive balance sensor or
b. a real imbalance issue that the sensor is picking up properly due to asymmetric performance of the shock absorbers, (I only changed 1 of the 3 a couple of months ago having damaged the plastic mounting lug upon drum removal). Are these shock absorber mounts that critical in maintaining an even drum motion and should they always be replaced in sets to ensure even performance?
Appreciate any assistance offered to help – I’m getting close to junking this one.January 19, 2017 at 11:43 am in reply to: Siemens iq300 – Splitting Drum & Tub for Bearing Replacement #444270nemonon

OK. Possibly being over attentive. It’s not like I’d ever really looked at the wash cycle of my washing machine before!

Thanks Kwatt all back together, sealed up and run for the first time last night after leaving the sealant 3 days to cure. I replaced the carbon brushes and the element (as supplied by you) to give it a little more life, hopefully.
I issue I may have is that the 2 x 90deg white washes I put on last night didn’t seem to fill the drum with much water, just a couple of inches max. May I have disturbed something delicate concerning the supply of water when I was manhandling the machine to accept the drum? Everything went back in place as far as I could see and I took plenty of photos to confirm before and after. I did notice that on the rinse cycle the water enters the drum via the inlet at the top of the door seal and runs down the glass face of the door. Is it possible for a noob like me to misalign the door seal such that the water goes straight out through the drain at the base of the seal? It seemed pretty logical the way I fitted it.January 11, 2017 at 8:56 pm in reply to: Siemens iq300 – Splitting Drum & Tub for Bearing Replacement #444266nemonon

Bearings off and spindle cleaned up. Unfortunately high speed inner bearing failure means that chunks have been removed from the spindle and the shaft where the seal sits is compromised meaning I need a new spider, which is bolted onto this model. Any ideas on where I could get an affordable one Kwatt? They all seem about £170 which would mean the machine is BER.

My machine is not listed as compatible with that bearing kit Kwatt. Unless you know better?

Thanks for the help Kwatt. They’re out! Took a bit of hammering and I might need to give the spindle thread a little TLC before refitting but the spindle was pretty much welded to the inner bearing’s inner race, so much that it actually left 1/3 of the inner ring on the spindle when it came out! The bearing was destroyed upon removal but a lot of rust and corruption emanating from inside it indicates that it was a while failing.
Now, to order bearings: is it worth fitting the aftermarket bearings listed above (SKU not bad, but not Koyo or NTK) or should I go for the genuine parts at 6x the cost?

Doesn’t seem to want to know, even after application of the lump hammer.
