ParticipantRe: Fitting belt on Zanussi Dryer
Thank you both for your replies.
Yes the drum does have a track where the belt was and should be. This track also lines up with the grooves on the motor shaft. However, the tension pulley is so misaligned that it throws the belt off even when turning the drum by hand. However, it is not wobbly.
The old belt has only 4 grooves (1975 H 125828800) and a frayed edge. I suspect the tension pulley has frayed away 2 grooves. The belt I am trying to use has 6 grooves (1975H 125828810). Is this belt correct? The different part number worried me.
The pulley may be a problem to remove. The spring clip that is holding it on is about 2mm inside the pulley. It looks like I will have to smash or cut it away in order to replace it. Is there another option?newtoforums

I have a similar problem with a TC470. The belt will not stay on. I bought a new one and followed the very useful advice on cleaning out the fluff and found Martin’s description of the belt route particularly useful.
“From memory as you look from the back the belt comes from the L/H/side of the drum, down and around the motor pulley, up over the tensioner pulley( clockwise) and away to the drum again on the other side…..??”
However, when I switch on the belt comes off immediately.
I believe that the tensioner pulley is not aligned with the drum and the grooves on the motor shaft. It rotates freely but does not slide on it’s shaft. I believe it should be positioned further back (closer to the motor).Am I right? Any suggestion about what I can do about it?
