Many thanks for the reply, I’ll strip the working parts out of it in case they can help anyone else, then take the rest of the machine to it’s rightful place (the tip).

As soon as I can afford it, I’ll follow this excellent forum’s advice in choosing a replacement (at the moment, I’m thinking Bosch ….)
