OK, got a new heating element from the link suggested, and I have to say it was the first time I actually enjoyed hanging out the washing 🙂
So the heating element worked fine, one small tip is that there is a clasp inside the drum to hold the heating element just make sure you line up with that correctly or it won’t fit properly. Thanks again for all the help especially. the tip about testing the earth leakage on the heating element.

Yes, I’m fairly happy to give it a try, so have ordered one.
Great couple of tips on your video for fitting the things so we’ll see how it goes.

OK, with the heating element still disconnected I (somehow) cleared the E66 code and the all the functions (fill, empty, etc) could be performed. I did however get a fault E69 code which is not the table – any ideas.
Really appreciate all the help on here.

That is more challenging than fixing the machine 😆 😆

Yes, I’m at home now to (with a growing pile of washing), so having the code would be really useful 🙂

Yes I did try running the machine without the heater connected, got the same error code as before. That I now know was due to my not clearing the earlier code – so how do you clear error codes?

OK, I don’t like the look of this.
The megger indicated high leakage when connected between either the pos or neg terminal and the earth terminal on the heater element. I didn’t wind the megger up to full voltage because of this, switching to a normal meter showed a resistance of 4~6 meg ohms.
On the advice of a friend whilst the heater was disconnected I re-ran the diagnostic check and it still failed with the E66.So is this indicating that both the heating element and the controller have failed or should I still get the error message.
Thanks

Time to dig the Megger out then!
And see what it tells me and what my options are.
Thanks for finding the part tedwards101.Nick42

Thanks,
Just my luck, always the most expensive bit!
I understand that it is either the relay on the board or a earth leakage problem with the heating element. If it was the later I would have thought the supply RCD would have popped. Or does the control board not let that happen?
BTW how much is a new board, and where would I get one
Thanks
