Re: Neff U1661 No Clock or Bottom Oven

    Update.

After a removal of the oven, and swapping the control panel for the top and bottom oven, I managed to get the bottom oven working (but with limited functions).

Luckily a work colleague repairs printed circuit boards and he soon found the problem as a blown track on the input side of the panel. This supplies power to the lights, clock and also the thermostat relay. Our guess is that one of the lights failed, and shorted out, blowing the circuit.

A £20 repair fixed this and the oven is now working fine.

One thing I did discover is that Neff have a really good web site with exploded diagrams and part numbers etc. You can also check the cost of spare parts there.

Many thanks for all the help given here.

    Nick

Re: Neff U1661 No Clock or Bottom Oven

    Update.

I would appear the control panel for the main oven has failed. 🙁 There is no power output to the elements even with the clock disconnected and none of the display lights up.

The clock seems to work when connected to the top oven control panel.

There’s no visible signs of failure on the fan element and it has a resistance of 35 ohms. Not sure what this value should be but it will be quite easy to test with a separate lead.

Do I have to go to Neff for a new control panel? Unfortunately being without the cooker whilst the panel is repaired isn’t really an option.

Must admit I’d be reluctant to spend more than about £250 on this oven when you can pick up a new one for just over £400.

Thanks for your help so far.

It has been suggested by a local repairer that it is possible to bypass the clock? Any thoughts?

Re: Neff U1661 No Clock or Bottom Oven

Hi guys – you really know how to cheer someone up!

The full part no is U1661N1GB09. Other info on the plate is FD8208 HBB-AP59-8 5750.314191.

So add £170 for a control panel, plus the element, plus VAT thats going to be a £300+ repair and its only 4 years old. So much for a “quality” brand!

Quite happy to investigate the problem (I fix milking machines for a living) its just how to get access to the various bits. Presume I have to pull the oven out?

Re: Neff U1661 No Clock or Bottom Oven

    That’s what I feared.

The fan element looks OK, but I guess I need to remove the whole oven to put a mulimeter on it?

Any suggestions on how I access the control panel? I suppose that is a Neff only supply and with 3 hungry kids it can’t be out of commission for long!

Thanks for your help so far.
