    Posted too soon…… doh!!

The baffle unclips from the freezer side – should have realised…. I’ve taken a look and no sign of ice or anything being frozen up – baffles seemed to slide freely with gentle pressure from a small screwdriver – does this mean the linkage has broken to the motor? Anyway, assembled again and on starting up ‘d’ flashing away….. Is this something that could be repairable or is it a new unit that’s needed….?

    Thanks…. Nige

    Thanks Chezza….

I’ve taken a quick look and can easily remove the outside plastic cover and polystyrene cover underneath this. There was a little bit of ice on the outside of the plastic cover, but no idea whether the inside of this unit is frozen. The unit is in the top LHS of the fridge and looks like a round blue component clipped? onto a further plastic and polystyrene base fitted onto the side-wall of the fridge, but there is no obvious or easy way to remove any of these, so other than allow to defrost a bit I’ve no idea how I can check to see if the baffle is damaged. Will let you know how I get on, but if no joy further advice or instructions would be really helpful.

    Thanks…. Nige

Hi, had similar problems to many on this site, with our Whirlpool American fridge freezer which is only a couple of years old….

    (Ser: 8586 402 15000 11 0640 012549)

We had the front board replaced under warranty after about 6 months as the front panel kept going blank and – – appearing every now and again… over the last few months we’ve had spurting water and for the last couple of weeks things in some areas of the fridge have been getting frozen and the temp being lower than it should everywhere (fine for beers, not so good for food)… Had I been a single bloke, no prob’s, but not so good for the family!!!

Obtained the kit and replaced the components on the rear board and the spurting water problem has now been resolved, which is brill…. problem with the fridge temp has not changed though. I’ve cleaned out behind front grille and rear cover, got rid of dust etc. but not sure what steps to take next as problem remains…. When I switch on power after a couple of mins I get the alarm and a ‘d’ showing on the fridge display, but this goes off after about 5 minutes. Having read the comments on this forum I was thinking that it might be a relay, but which one? or the motorised baffle thing, which I’m not sure I can easily get at? or is it likely to be something else…. could do with some detailed advice plse…. and being pointed in the direction of more parts if I need them…

    Thanks… Nige
