Thanks.
I also note, on the schematic of the electrics, that only a pressure switch is to be found on the neutral side of the heater. The only other switch in the neutral line is the door switch, as far as I can see.
The pipe is only sooted up on the outside (from the burn flashes when the machine took out the mcb) so has been tucked back(?) into the hole in the base moulding.
I am amazed the machine was still operational. Is the need for a filter on the power supply simply for the electronic programmer?

Also, is the pipe wich descends from the loop on the side of the washer simply an open ended jobbie. It clearly sits adjacent to the incoming power connection as it, too, is blackened along part of its length. It seems as though it goes through a hole on the ba k section and then floats in fresh air.

Thanks guys.
Took it all apart to find what? The power input connection as black as your hat. My suspicions were correct. Nothing to do with leaks to earth on heater or pump. Just the one part that may have been able to be replaced without tearing the whole machine to pieces!
Can you supply this part, please. How much and is it easily fitted with the machine together, or do I need to re-assemble after changing it?
Can I attach pics to these posts? If so, I will attempt to show you what it looks like!

I am surprised! I will investigate further. Should I see a very burned mark when it has taken out the 30A mcb four times, now? No mark will mean testing the element to earth insulation? I will look on Friday and get back to you.
Thanks so far.

Surely faults, such as heater breaking down to earth or even circulating pump would only occur while the machine is running? The heater, for instance, is presumably switched on the live side, not the neutral?
These trips are occurring before the wash program is initiated by the timer and after the wash programs have completed. I can look for leaks but they would be small or the float switch would trip the machine? So are you saying there are live feeds before and after the wash programs are actually running?
Agreed, these machines are not rodent proof (they could and should be), but the dog would most certainly not allow rodents to inhabit the house! She is a super ratter!
