Stripped the dishwasher down last night, water lying in bottom pan. Drained it and the error disappeared. Run the machine and there was quite a bad leak coming from the seal around the large plastic assembly which houses the filter components and connects the inlet and waste tubes.
The moulded support brackets had broken and whole fitting was quite loose.
Turned whole dishwasher unit upside down, stripped this assembly out and cleaned the whole area, refitted it with lashings of high temp silicone adhesive and overlaid it with a whole tube of silicone sealant. When this has all set I will secure with a couple of strips of gorilla tape.
I am sure the leak will be fixed but hopefully there will never be a need to remove this again or its a new dish washer!
