Siemans is also part of the Bosch group so the same machine is made under the Bosch brand name and that happens a lotthe problem with this game is the same as cars. you could say ford cars go wrong more often but you cant make sweeping statements like that without knowing the numbers involved. I see more Hotpoints but that does not necessarily mean Hotpoint are more unreliable it could just mean there are more Hotpoints out there so there are more of them to go wrong

I tend to look to see what companies make the different brands and also where they were made. My f/f has gone rusty the side nearest the cooker (gas) it is about 9 inch a way from it. I have had the f/f for over 10 years from John Lewis.

the first one is budget, how much you want to spend

I know, it took me almost as long to buy my washing machine and I went for a Siemens in the end. At the moment I have a Zanussi f/f but it has started to rust so time to go. I have to know things like where were they made, what do the professionals think about them and how many times do they need repairing?

Found this 2.0 out of 5 stars good fridge, but has reliability issues.

Although when he took the top of the machine off he did point with his screwdriver to a black plastic part with wires coming from it and said ‘there’s your problem’ He also tested it with a meter????Sorry, but I don’t hold with that diagnosis nor can you simply “test it with a meter”…. It’s not possible short of removing the complete control panel, unhooking the module from the panel, disconnecting several securing cable ties and finally removing the circuit boards own protective covers to peer inside at the printed circuit board and its surface components.
Pandora99 wrote:A local engineer came out and tested something in the cavity of the machine and he said it was OK
To access and test the heater the complete front panel including door has to be removed. You cannot test it from the top or from the back. You cannot even get at it from underneath unless you remove a heavy metal baseplate, which I doubt was ever attempted TBH…..all a bit suspect. :rolls:
I think I will ask a Siemens engineer to carry out the work this time. 😕

Tell me about it, I forgot I had stuff in it the other week…..two hours later…… :rolls:There you go then, now we’ve cleared that up you now have a clear picture of what’s wrong and I’ll leave it in your capable…… 🙂
Thank you. 😀
Now to decide whether to get a Siemens engineer £89 + cost of part or a perhaps a local one (not the one who said it was the control board) Although when he took the top of the machine off he did point with his screwdriver to a black plastic part with wires coming from it and said ‘there’s your problem’ He also tested it with a meter????

How would this problem prevent the machine from finishing the cycle? All wash programmes have preset temperature the water needs to attain before it will proceed to the next stage in the washing process (i.e the rinses.) No heat then no progress onto a rinse, it just carries on washing forever and a day. 8)

And according to an adviser at Siemens it sounds like the ‘control module’.The Control Module for this model costs £181.72 and rather than accepting what the “adviser” suggests it would be a wise move to check the heating element first. The symptoms point directly to a heating (no heat) problem and 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time replacing the heater cures this fault.
Now if the heater turns out not to be faulty, then and only then would the suspicion point to the module being at fault. Very often the module can be repaired though rather than replacement.
A local engineer came out and tested something in the cavity of the machine and he said it was OK. Could I prove that it was the heater by putting the machine on a hot wash?

It is WXLM1260GB

A Siemens engineer is £89 plus the cost of the part.Pandora99
ParticipantRe: Siemans XLM 1200 washing machine.
He did lift it up and check something inside, which, apparently according to his meter was OK.
