Hi Martin,
Thanks for getting back to me again on this.
Reclaim = ripped from an old machine. It won’t be perfect, but for £30 maybe I get my machine back for a while longer. I will see if I can find a new one, but when I first looked at around 100 quid, it’s just not worth it. Machine would have to run trouble free for around 5 years! No chance surely?
With an interlock costing around £15 (new), then the combo need to keep the machine running for around 2 years for it to be better than buying a new one (assuming we are lucky enough to get 10 years from a new one @£250).
Is there anything else I can easily check before I buy the parts? is there another part that would have been affected when these two blew up?
So interlock – yes guilty as charged – machine has been left to run later at night or run while we are out.
Hmm – not easy to know what to do if I do have to replace this week.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your reply.
I’m not sure if you or anyone else can offer advise now I’ve had a better look.
I’ve finally found the time to open it all up.
1. The interlock has black soot and what appears to be a blown section (the bimetallic timing section? I’m not really familiar with these, so that’s a guess based on how it looks. Can photo and post if it helps).
2. The pcb has blown tracking and a section that also looks damaged. The blown track is directly connected and next to where two wires from the interlock connect.
The section of the board that shows signs of damage is beneath, towards the edge of the board.
I have photos of the board – front and back, if it helps, so am posting these.
My questions are;
1. If I replace the pcb and interlock with a reclaimed pcb and new / reclaim interlock, will this fix the problem?
2. I have a reclaimed rold interlock (DF series 132441800 f02510), rather than bitron dls1. Is this a valid replacement? I’ll spend the few quid extra for the bitron, if that’s the better option – there are plenty of new and reclaims available.
3. Anyone have an idea, based on experience of how long this repair would last? I reckon the pcb and interlock will cost £45 – which is fine if it stops it heading to landfill and delays a new machine being needed, but obviously not great if it only lasts a month or two!
4. Is there anything else I should look for that may have been either damaged (wiring loom? etc..) or have caused the damage? Thanks for your help.
