Re: Ariston Margherita AWD12 not blowing at all!

Stupid certainly, but the fan WAS rotating the wrong way and slowly. I got a clue when I wired it correctly and looked though the small hole onto the fan. It was actually rocking to-and-fro! Semi siezed.

    Dissasembled motor again.
Cleaned bearings with meths and a cotton bud.
lubricated with light oil. Worked it in.
    Reassembled. Checked free running.

    Hey presto!

All done and it works a treat. Thanks for your help. I can’t believe they designed it without a resettable fuse. I can’t believe they designed it without a removable filter.
I can believe that you guys need to justify the knowledge that you gained by charging more for parts. People don’t like paying for “intangables”. Dealer price for the fuse -£14.95.
Maplins price for the same fuse but without the wires – £0.49

Ah! Beware of things hidden in plain view!
Yes it IS blown. Leave the guys to their beer. There are suppliers up here. I’ll sort something.

How the hell do you clean the fluff out?? There is no acess panel. I thought about flushing it back down into the drum with a hose but that’s a pants thing to do to it.

Re: Ariston Margherita AWD12 Blowing cold

Chill out Simon. Yes obviously I know enough to disconect from the mains before I work on it, but I need to run it with the covers off to measure it. I was talking rubbish about the residual main voltage. I would still see neuteral even with the machine switched off. (2AM!)
    THe things I have established;
The mains is good. I hae lived there for 15 years.
    The element is good 240V/49ohms = 4.89Amps
The fan runs and there is plenty of air flow.
The problem is that the heater is not being switched on.

So Either, there is a disconnected/broken wire, or the relay is not switching, or the temperature sensor is faulty.

I am inclined to think that it is the sensor. And for £5 its easy to swap out.

I suspect your drier has blown a thermal fuse

Do you MEAN fuse? The part number that Appctr was talking about is a thermistor. Is there a fuse somewhere else?
Does the control board regulate temperature intellegently? or is it simply a case of the sensor controlling the relay?

Where can I buy that part online?
