    Thanks Dave.
Is this easy to fix, although looking on places like buy spares etc can’t see a board for sale. If it’s cost prohibitive like run it till it dies then replace

Just to say thanks to all. The whole cause was the rear bearing, it was in bits and cabinet in a right state. The spindle just sheared off when I was trying to take the drum off it was that worn. Replaced everything from the kit and cleaned the big quilt like mess of fluff from inside and all fine now. Quite an interesting job to do, but why don’t the repair kits have the threads cut in the new spindle??. Didn’t replace the capacitor as wasn’t sure about the one I had.

Agree, might not need a capacitor. No idea how we missed it, but it’s normally not monitored whilst it’s running but we are where we are… The kit I linked to is from ransom spares but they are all likely the same. My thoughts is that as I have a capacitor that may be correct, seeing as I need to strip it down anyway, if it will work may as well fit it.
Initial symptoms were drum not turning well and stopping when changing direction when loaded. Changed direction fine when empty.
If anyone can confirm that capacitor will be fine I will fit, otherwise will send it back.
I’ll get hold of a bearing kit and a rivet gun.

Thanks Dave. Looks like a new skill to learn. Still cheaper than a new machine.
As an aside, will that capacitor be ok as it’s 5uf even though the numbers by the voltages are not the same. I can take back if needed.

    Yeah
The video shows 3 screws holding the rear shaft to the drum but rivets attaching the bearing holder to the back of the machine. Kit also comes with rivets??

Or do I just need the rear shaft and use the bearing that’s already there.
Yes.. 3kg dryers are hard to get hold of. Got it as it’s the right size to fit where it is.

Ok. Video I looked at on you tube showed my model having a square bearing not a teardrop one. Is the one you mentioned an upgrade to the square one? Just need to ensure get the correct kit. Assume capacitor is ok then?

Thanks for the response Dave. I’ve seen the procedure online and it looks involved but not too fiddly. Ill just have to find a rivet gun!!
With regards to the Capacitor, yes both are 5uf, but the valves next to 425v and 475v are completely different to the one that’s in. Will it still be OK to use?
Inclined to fix this one, as I’m loathed to throw anything away, particularly as new they are at least £170 and I can fix this one for way less.
I assume the groove on the new capacitor is equivalent to the raised edge on the old. Does it matter which side the connectors go on as long as I replicate keeping the correct 2 together on the same side? 2 reds one side of groove and 2 browns the other?

Brill thanks for the replies. I’ll get one of those and see if it fixes.
