Hi Iadom
Sorry for delay in posting but have been away for a few days.I have done continuity test on both switches. The smaller (I assume the safety switch) is working but the bigger one isn’t as there is no break in the circuit when I blow into the switch.
Hi Seamy
The pipes are OK as I can get both switches to work mechanically when I blow though the pipe AND I can here them clicking when I fill the machine.
Many thanks for all your help.

Oh, I see!
Many thanks for the information, very helpful.
That’s interesting about the second switch. Even when I set the machine to “half” load it fills to a level far higher than ever before, then the pumps kicks in to drain water. I’ll check both switches with the meter.thanks again

Dear Iadom
Yes it does stop as soon as I switch off the power. I thought it did that anyway. My meter has just arrived so will test switch. I notice that there are 2, one smaller that the other. It’s a 2 level washing machine so I assume that each switch is for the each of the levels. I have read that some 2 level washing machines have a “2 level” switch. Is this just the case for more recent models?
thanks

I have tried to buy a timer control but have been told that it is an obsolete item.
I understand that these items can be refurbished – does anyone know of a company that would do this for me?
Or if anyone knows of a company that sells second hand parts – I need a kind of appliance breakers yard 🙂
thanks

Dear Martin
Many thanks. I have found a timer unit for that machine, quite expensive but not as expensive as a new machine!!
Do you think it may be just the thermostat itself rather than the timer unit?
thanks

Dear Iadom
Many thanks for your reply.
If it transpires that it is not the element but the heater control that you mentioned I assume that the heater control is not on the main control PCB.

ParticipantRe: Replacing door gasket on Ariston AV1247C
I successly replaced the door gasket and it has been leak free for some weeks now.
Yes, it was a pain. I did end up with scuffed knuckles and bruised hands but there wasn’t too much swearing.
Thanks for advice everyone.

The second band is held with a screw clamp. Just as well I have small hands!!
Tyrap = cable tie; for the dryer outlet.
Thanks

I haven’t replaced my door gasket yet as the part was waiting for me at the post office on my return from my holiday! As it’s tipping down today, I’m armed with screw driver and a ton of patience. This may seem like a dumb question, but do I need to take the top off the machine of anything like tht before replacing the door gasket. I have removed the first wire band and can see and reach the tyrap, and inner band.
Thanks
