ParticipantThanks Dave. I will get the stat cover off shortly. Is there anything else besides the stat I should change ? e.g. the defrost timer ? Does my unit have a fan at the back? Model No. 8539 762 15040
Thanks for your help. Will try not to pester you any more !August 14, 2020 at 9:35 am in reply to: Fridge of double unit cool, not cold – smart answers needed please. #470920philipg99
ParticipantHi Dave, have been trying everything to get the cover off the stat. Scared I might damage the fridge wall.
Could you please let me know the exact model number – I need to quote this correctly to Whirlpool to get any advice or to get a manual.
I attach the photos of both the nameplate and the stat cover again to save you searching.
Notice my nameplate does not state “Model No.” as such, hence my query.
Sorry to pester, but thanks for any more thoughts

ParticipantThanks Dave.
Have removed the stat knob (with molegrips, took all my strength, but nothing broken)
Sorry to carry on so, but cannot see how to remove the plastic unit containing the thermostat.
there must be a catch or some trick to unhook it from the fitting in the fridge side wall.
I am a good DIYer but this has got me beat just now. see my photo above ?
Thanks for any help.
Will order the statAugust 5, 2020 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Fridge of double unit cool, not cold – smart answers needed please. #470916philipg99

ParticipantThis was the email I sent (with modified text re photo)
Thanks for your quick response Dave.
I have tried here to attach photo of I/D plate inside fridge compartment, also photo of possible thermostat location but file sizes are too big at 2.4MB apparently. Can I email them? sorry, I’m on a learning curve here….
I don’t see a 12nc reference anywhere I’m afraid.
Is ‘CBI 651 WN’ the model number? (on the photo)
Will there be any I/D any where else?I note now that its cooling comes from the back inside panel of the fridge which is colder than the other sides/top/bottom.
I would expect to be able access the thermostat device.
I have tried here to attach a photo of the thermostat/light housing (light bulb removed, as you see in my mirror)
Would have thought that I could pull/prise off the thermostat knob to perhaps allow the plastic housing to be released, but the knob is tight on its spindle – I don’t want to break it.As soon as I switched power back on and turned the thermostat knob back to ‘7’ the compressor immediately cut back in, so all seems healthy on the actual operation of the unit.
Thanks for any help.
Apart from the cost of a new unit I would hate to take this one down to the local tip – throw away society, environment etc.
