Bunch of genuises. What a great forum – ta for all your assistance.

You’ve saved me a long trip to Merloni to go and shout obsceneties through their letterbox….

Not towards us I hope? 😕

Nope – unless you are affiliated with Merloni!! 😀

That’s ideally what I’m trying to do. Questions: 1) Where do you source these from and 2) How are they rated (ie do I need to match impedance or the like) – or is it just a universal thing

Ok – have gone back to Merloni and been as forceful as possible. Call centre dolly was insisting for 5 mins that they could only send an engineer out – yeah, right – he comes out at charge of £75, looks at part and says “you need a new mains filter mate”

Have finally got her to post a technical query through (she flat refused to put me through to speak to someone) and said she would ask them to call me. I’m not holding my breath.

That is the exact same diagram shown on their ‘Partfinder’ disc and therefore will show up on Merloni’s system. I suggest ringing Merloni spares dept quoting CKG21133GN for them to figure out the replacement part number?

    Best of luck! 😉

Thanks, but as I’ve already mentioned, I’ve gone down that route with no luck. They have come back saying that the part is discontinued and they have no stock. Fair enough – but they then can’t give me further details as to the rating on the filter to try and source an alternative source or generic part.

SURELY something like a mains filter is a fairly common part and could be interchangeable?

Failing that – there are two mains filters connected in series in the machine – what would be the likely consequences of just connecting the supply straight into the second mains filter (which as far as I can see from the parts list / circuit diagram is exactly the same as the first)

I’m anal enough to have kept the installation and servicing intructions manual from 10yrs ago. The part IS THERE in the manual – right in front of me as I type – as detailed in my first post.

Can anyone inform me as to how mains filters are rated – if I go to try and get a generic one or pilfer one from another machine, what figures should I be looking for to match up. Unfortunately, the imprint on the filter itself has gone, so I can’t get details from the part directly.

Here’s the diagram, looking at the bottom rear of the cooker.

Sorry, should have said that I’m well aware of that. Have spent time on phone with Merloni, trying to get them to think outside the box or get me to speak to an engineer, with no luck – just a bunch of obstructive call-centre button pushers.

I tried speaking to Stoves, who were a little more forthcoming, but effectively once the model number was mentioned, bounced me straight back to Merloni, saying that they had changed their electrical circuits entirely and wouldn’t be able to supply. I find this hard to believe, as surely the voltage regulation is going to be in the same ballpark – all it’s doing is driving a low voltage timing device, an ignitiion circuit and a couple of interior oven lights?!

Also know as Image Classic Green, it’s a freestanding double oven in green, griddle on the left top, main oven, second oven with grill on the left. Brass effect handles, black trim.
