Re: White Knight ‘A Class’ cracked drum

Ha, i wondered why the thread had been bumped.

I’m now trying my luck with a 7KG Beko machine, feels a lot better quality than the White Knight which went to the rag n bone man.

Not a bad machine that Whirlpool, can be expensive on spares at a later date though. Price with the delivery charge is £209, for an extra £20 I would much rather have This Zanussi as it comes with free delivery. Much cheaper on spares as well should they be needed in the future.

    HTH 🙂

    Hi thanks for replying.

I have been wanting a Zanussi but they are expensive, although the one i had my eye on was this which varies between this price and £275: http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/zanussi-zd … 8-pdt.html £181 and free delivery, and £5.43 Quidco cashback.

The Whirlpool at Tesco is coming through checkout with free delivery, it’s free above £200 and it’s taking the old price. Also there’s a £10 off code bringing it down to £179, then £5.37 Quidco, £3.78 in Clubcard worth £15 in deals… Ahh decisions.

edit- just realised the Zanussi is the exact model you posted.

Ahh i think i’ll go for the Zanussi from Dixons?

Okay forget that, it’s not being sold anywhere else and Davids Home Goods is scammy looking to me.

Soooo next option is this, prob works out £50-ish dearer than WK but that’s more cost effective than replacing it in a years time

You’re right that you get what you pay for… Just things are tight i guess and i always hope i’ll be lucky to get one with no probs!

    What’s pcb? I’m off to look at Zanussi’s then…

Edit – (again!) – I’ve never heard if this website but this seems cheap (i’d be looking for some reviews on that site before parting with any money though!).

What do u think? Free delivery too? http://www.davidshomegoods.com/kitchen/ … ml?added=1

Could be dodgy, but anyway, is that one a good machine?

It’s not quite that bad as yet, but it’s exactly how it started the first time so it’s headed that way if i carry on using it. (I’m not, because it’s LOUD and i’m having neighbour probs, as in, they’re noisy and i don’t want to be a hypocrite 😆 )

    edit – here’s a pic i took a min ago http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/ … 010221.jpg

Just out of interest are you using the 8 hour A class programme? Because if you are your drier is doing 4 times more work per load than it needs to! So will only last 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} as long as a normal Crosslee made machine would. Hence the regular faillings.

I also have a White Knight A class (84AW) just over 3 years old, it makes noises it really shouldn’t do so as far as I’m concerened they are not really worth putting great money into, so when mine fails (unless its a cheap repair) its had it chips for something better. They are made about 2 miles up the road from my home, so I thought I would buy locally and put money into our economy, well won’t be doing that again. I hate to say this but I may even consider a Miele.

I heard some of Crosslees employees talking the other day, lets just say quality control has gone out of the window. I won’t say anymore on that as you can get sued for telling the truth these days!

    Oliver.

Hi – no, i very rarely use the 8 hour setting, it’s not the quietest of machines even when the drum isn’t cracked so i don’t like having it blaring all night.

I’m wondering if i could sell the machine for “spares or repair” to help put some money towards a new one. What do you think?

Actually, i’m on the lookout for a new one and the only one bigger than 3kg that’s within a low price range is this White Knight (groan) from Asda @ £125 (+ rip-off delivery) http://direct.asda.com/White-Knight-427 … lt,pd.html

Would i be really foolish to go back to White Knight after this?! 😳

I’m wondering if a repair is going to be a- possible, and b- cheaper than a new machine. Or of course, it would be totally pointless because this is the 2nd time it’s happened now.

Would i be totally pushing my luck if i emailed Crosslee? (lol!!)

Re: White Knight ‘A Class’ cracked drum

    (Mega-Bump!)

Well – 2.5 years later and it’s happened again!!!

I don’t use heavy loads in my drier, and there’s only me and my young son so it’s not overused.

Seriously, is 3.5 years the average lifespan of a tumble drier?? I seriously expected it to last 7+…. Maybe i’m being totally unrealistic?

    Not happy 🙁

(edit – actually i think i bought the drier May 06 so almost 4 years old!! How time has flown… Still not happy though)

Hi, received a call from Stephen at Crosslee tonight, they are going to send out their service agents at some point to repair the drier with the cost being charged to Crosslee, so it’s a result so far! Hopefully it won’t take too long for it to be fixed, thanks for your advice on here which helped me to write a constructive email to them about the problems in the first place.

Hellol thanks for all the replies, i thought i had set it to email me when i got replies so that’s why i didn’t come straight back!!

Thanks for the interesting info, i’m going to send an email to Crosslee today explaining some of the info posted here such as the reasonable time factor, they replied pretty quickly last time so if i don’t get anywhere in the next few days i shall put it into writing to the EO.

    I’ll keep you updated!
