Thanks Dave, I feel a fool. The second plug part was so loose that it must have disconnected before I took the side panel off when pulling at the heater wire. The original element works now – reset the fuse…

    Thanks again!

So does that other plug need to be in too? Or I move the red plug over?

I’ve tried 3 heater units as complete kits with fuses/thermisters without heating working.

Regarding the picture – I don’t recall that other plug being in, seems weird to be loose.

Not sure if this is correct, but my heater (original) has only one connection going into it, does it look right?

Where the wires from thermostat and heater plug into pcb there is continuity. How do I test that the heater is getting everything it needs?

Got the board off, nothing is jumping out as being damaged.

    Hi Dave,

Sorry, you must be banging your head against the wall! I’ll check back on once I get access.

    Thanks.

I’ll try and get access, the fact that I have power going to the thermister and heater must mean it’s OK? Are there any other things that could stop the heater. Does the capacitor do anything related to that?

I assumed it was on the front where all the dials are? Struggling to get the front fascia off at the moment.

    Hi Dave,

Nothing looks overtly damaged. The dial for programme selector has two wires, one goes to front thermister and the other to the heater. I got a good shock off the front thermister so that’s definitely getting power 🙂 the heater has continuity across the fuse and non contact pen lights up when machine is running too.

Not sure what else to do.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Well still no luck, contacted hotpoint who said I needed c00506093 which I bought which had the same heater in as the replacement which didn’t work.

Tried changing the front thermistor too, no luck.

Anything else to try before giving up?

    Thanks.

Yeah, still no heat. As in programme 12 is 40 mins of drying on a timed dry.

    Hi Dave,

Yeah the connections were the same.

I did clean out the float and pump area, saw this advice on another thread and went back to double check it wasn’t engaged.

I found the front ntc and it looks OK, reading ohms etc, but I’ve just ordered a replacement just in case.

I’ve traced the power connecter from the dial (programme) selector to the ntc at the front and the power to the heater. Hopefully if the ntc is fried it won’t allow heater to engage and a replacement will fix it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Dave,

It must be board controlled as I don’t see a mechanical timer. It has a 2.3kw heater as stock, but compatable heaters are only 2.05kw with the model number. Maybe that’s the issue.

Would the front thermistor stop the heating element from kicking in? Not that I can see one.

    Thanks.
