Re: AEG Lavamat 86820 Update Error C9 after brush replacemen

Hi. Me again fixing another problem with the same machine. Any chance some could please provide the part numbers for the motor controller sub board and the main control board it plugs in to?

Thanks very much again for all the help.

Once again thanks very much to everyone for the help so far. A year later the quest to fix this machine continues. If anyone is able to advise the best way to track down a used replacement motor it would be much appreciated. Relevent model numbers are:
    AEG Lavamat 86820-W
    Typ: A46 D OA4D 06 A
    110.511 000. LP S.ZUL. NR. Q95050
    PNC 914 001 286 00
    S-No 840/70391

    Thanks again,

    Phil

Alternatively are there any AEG washing machine breakers in the UK or even better Australia? Over here trying to use new genuine parts is going to cost way more than the machine is worth.

Thanks again to everyone for all the invaluable help. I wouldn’t have got anywhere without this message board.

Thanks very much for the help. Is the UZ 112 G 70 interchangeable with any other FHP motors with similar codes? For example the UZ 112 G 63? My motor seems to be particularly hard to find.

Thanks. I’d just reached the same conclusion. After further testing the motor is what’s leaking to earth. I’m guessing there’s no way to reset/repair this? Is the motor likely to have taken many other components out with it when it died?

Re: AEG Lavamat 86820 Update Error C9 after brush replacemen

The saga continues 🙁 I repaired the issues above and had the machine working perfectly. I used isopropyl alcohol to clean the commutator and left it unused while I waited for the correct brushes to arrive which I ordered from this site. My house mate came home and tried to do a wash after about a week and it tripped the house RCCB. I pulled the back off and it seems the motor seized. I’m guessing the alcohol flushed the lubricant out of the bearings. It was easy to get it spinning freely again but now whenever I turn the machine on I get nothing displayed and it trips the RCCB. Is there anything I can do from here?

Thanks Martin. So the 1-2ohms between adjacent commutator segments isn’t a sure sign the motor is stuffed? After sending my last post I started searching for motors online and chocked. I REALLY hope the motor is OK…..

Re: AEG Lavamat 86820 Update Error C9 after brush replacemen

It may be that I’m making a stupid mistake in my assumptions but I think the motor is stuffed. I’m only measuring 1-2ohms between any two commutator segments (side by side, quarter points, opposite, all seem the same) and I’m guessing this is likely to mean the insulation on the armature i stuffed?

    Commutator segments shown here:

Also what I’m assuming is the motor controller/driver seems to have overheated. The plastic cover that sits behind the PCB is scorched

The back of the PCB is a bit scorched and it seems to have exposed some of copper of one of the tracks.

The blue resistor and second square silver and black (resistor?) seem to be the components in the scorched area

There is a lot of carbon brush material all over the board that makes the whole thing look scorched but I’m pretty sure it’s only a small area under the components listed above.

Since resistors are usually pretty resistant to abuse and heat I’m thinking I might just replace the motor for now, if my assumptions above about it being stuffed are correct, and I’ll desolder the components in the scorched area and replace them if the new motor won’t work. Is this a bad idea? Do I risk burning out another motor? Anything else I should do first?

Thanks again for all your help. I wouldn’t have had a chance without your help.

Re: AEG Lavamat 86820 Update Error C9 after brush replacemen

Thanks for that. When I was doing the initial testing I measured the resistance between the brush leads and slowly turned the armature. It measured 6-8ohms all the way around but the brushes seemt to bridge 2 segments of the commutator so there may still be a faulty coil. I’ll measure each one individually tonight and also pull out the PCB’s for visual inspection.

Thanks for the reply. I assumed it was a position sensor for the motor drive. Good to learn the more about these things.

That’s very bad news if I’ve stuffed the machine 🙁 What type of damage could have occured to the motor and how should I test for that?

I’ll take the PCB out and check for obvious damage and go from there.

    Thanks again for your help.
