Thanks guys.

I removed the motor and found that one of the brushes had worn down to minimum, the other was almost as new.

I have managed to gain an extra eighth of an inch of brush to clear the backlog of washing while I get new brushes. The machine has been used every day since 2000 (family of four) so I am impressed with the relaibitly. The wife is disapointed as she thought she would get a new machine. 😥
