I would leave the control unit well alone until the door interlock and on/off switch have been checked.
Just spoke to my mate. His son went round last night and had the top and sides off and tested all the circuits. He took the door interlock out, he thinks that is faulty my mates going to get a replacement and his son will put it it back in. I’ll let you know.pollys13

iadom wrote:First problem is that model number, don’t know where you have got the HH from but it is wrong.
Assuming it is a WM62 it could be any number of things, door interlock, on/off switch, main control unit damaged by faulty door interlock.
No quick simple answers I’m afraid, it needs checking out with a suitable multimeter or megger by someone who knows how to use such equipment.
With the mains plug removed at all times.
Hi thanks,
Think he got those numbers from the door, has his big plant sitting above it. His son is a heating and ventilation engineer.
So he knows how to check timers and all that stuff. He is going to look at the washer. I thought I’d ask the forum while he is waiting to have his son check it out. If I can get him to remove things above and get number from back. I’ll get back to the forum.

Would a Zanussi ZWF1631 W tub & drum fit into my Zanussi ZWF 12070W?The suspension springs differ.
Tub depth differs
Front bellows differs
Tub outlet differsBut with a bit of bodging anything is possible I suppose. Depends on how determined and resourceful you are I guess. If someone can fit a jet engine into a VW Beetle then a simple matter of fitting a slightly different tub from one old scrap washing machine into another scrap washing machine should be a breeze. :clown:
OK.

Not so much now. Many cheap washing machines are designed to be throwaway items now and anything under about £300 considered to be “budget”, i.e., cheap.
Mid range, up to about £600 are a bit better but you need to watch what you buy.
Top end stuff usually isn’t a problem but then, they break a lot less as well.
Don’s your man for that question though of what’s good or bad in the budget stuff now but, without opening the washing machine up and having a look you probably won’t know unless you have a specific model number we can look up.

OK thanks very much.

OK thanks. Are there any washing machines around the £300 price range that can have the bearings replaced by a a DIYer?

You can check for movement in the inner drum and noise level on spinning by hand to assess the state of the bearings.
We just got it out of the car with the sack barrow. We spun the drum, yes is the bearing. My brother in law is going to get one of his star keys to take that metal wheel off the back of the plastic drum. Are we not able to drill out the old bearing in bits, then up end the drum and empty the bits out and then bang in a new bearing from the outside?
