Indeed the machine was not filling with water & I had a hunch that the Aquastop safety system had been activated. I have just returned from a few days away &, low & behold, the dishwasher is now working! I thought it may be of assistance to post this message for others who fix the ‘E2’ error with a hosepipe: during this proceedure some water overflowed from the front of the machine.

Our theory is that the overflow of water, possibly into the machine base, had activated the Aquastop system as the dishwasher thought it was flooding the kitchen! Once left for a few days to dry out, the dishwasher is now working perfectly!
