Just in case anyone sees this message and has the same problem as me…

I seem to have fixed it. Apart from the troubleshooting that I detailed in the above post, the only thing I then did, was put the washer on the reset setting for a few minutes, then run a quick wash (which worked fine) and then ran a full wash.

This has now completed with no water left in the bottom and all is well. Mysterious. But sorted.
