Re: Neff double fan oven tripping RCD

Well the half-moon heating element arrived promptly – thanks uk whitegoods!

I fitted it last night but am now faced with a new problem:

The element is heating up ok, the fan is spinning fine as before but the oven is “apparently” not getting up to temperatures above 50-100. I say apparently because this is where the thermostat light clicks on and off when I turn the temperature dial.

The inside of the oven feels hot, but I can’t tell if it’s 100 degrees or more without a thermometer.

One thing I have noticed is that there is a vent in the top of the oven which a second fan blows air over (between the top and bottom ovens) – effectively evacuating the hot air from the bottom oven. Now I thought the fan used to do this when the oven was cooling down to expel the hot air quicker. It now seems to be on permanently during oven heating, which may explain why the bottom oven is not reaching temperature.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Re: Neff double fan oven tripping RCD

Thanks for the quick replies. I’d only just finished a cup of tea!

Sorry to be stupid, but just trying to find out if you’re both suggesting the same thing – the oven heating element.

    >>Most likely the fan element breaking down when really hot, at least that is the most likely cause.

Do you mean the fan itself or the oven heating element?

    >>Ive had some that have had earth leakage on grill element and when using fan assisted cooking have tripped RCD at a certain temp.
Only a test with a “mega” will be able to establish the culprit.

The bottom oven has no grill element, just the heating element at the back. I guess the same thing could apply to that?

    Cheers,
    Rich.
