hey Penguin, I take my hat off to you mate… your advice has paid trumps. The retaining spring took a little persuading but fitted in a treat.
You are a credit to this forum.
Many thanks!!
Rich.

The advice was spot on – I found a very battered sock, thanks very much for your advice. The drum spins free and easy now… but…
The only problem I now have is the missus stuck her oar in and had a root around in the door seal rubber and unsettled the securing spring tensioner. 4 hrs later and I can’t get the bugg3r to go back in….!
As you can imagine I’m getting a tad desperate – any ideas?
Rich.

Be warned – they don’t always want to go back in. A smwar of washing up liquid on the rubber helps.

Thanks Penguin – will gave that a go.

Penguin45 wrote:So……. Are you going to try and break it free? If you can prise the drum into movement, it may be worth pulling out the heater and going fishing – torch and wire coat-hanger are essential equipment.
Power off first, of course.

Hi penguin,
I have a similar problem with my same machine (ZWF1421W – about 2yrs old) the drum is not stuck fast but can be turned but is very stiff. I have checked the impeller and removed what looks like to be bits of the wifes bra – but alas drum is still hard to turn.
I notice you mention heater removal – can this be done by a rank but enthusiast amateur?? thanks for your help.Rich.
