only an expensive one and the cost of repairing dishwashers is close on buying a new one! but i can realistically only conclude it has something to do with new pump housing

no pump housing didnt leak – the “fins” seperated from the backing plate and so stopped pumping. so no water on motor ,which when cool spins freely. when hot is stiffer to turn. smell seems to be getting less intense and now mainly noticeable on drying bit of program when finished washing – last 10 mins . although to be fair that is when most of work has been done by motor and with hot water i suppose it must get up to a reasonable temp anyway. could it be that the pump housing was tight within itself and hence was more work to turn and hence hot motor? just guessing. any more suggestions. thanks for all replies thus far

for info: the motor gets quite hot to touch and makes it difficult to turn (by hand).
