Thanks again for the heater suggestion. I went back and restested all the components down stream from the heater relay. The problem is with the heater pressure sensor. The testing was inconsistent yesterday as the fault only occurs reliably when the body of the sensor is full of water. I think maybe something was bouncing around in the circulation pump causing the slider shutter faults and also damaging the pressure sensor. I’ve had to replace a previous circulation pump when a sliver of glass was wedged behind the impeller, which damaged the seal on the motor shaft.

    Thanks again,

Thanks for the suggestion. I unplugged the heater from the heat relay and the RCD still trips. So while I haven’t tested the heater element that isn’t what is causing the RCD to trip.

Since posting, I have stripped out the control module and there is no visible evidence of overheating. So I’ll assume the control board isn’t damaged and that something broke just before the first RCD tripped. The description is that the machine was making the same sounds repeatedly about 2 mins into the programme and after 5-6 occurrences the RCD tripped. To narrow things down I’ll see if I can cause the RCD trip with other single component test programs and/or prevent the RCD trip by removing components from the control harness. As there were several faults related to spray arm water control sliders I wonder if the motor that moves the sliders is damaged.
