What do you mean I have to try and force the white bit off the black bit underneath? Because I assure you the two together do not unscrew and simply rotate freely together.

Yes I would have thought that too but there is no thread on the aquastop to screw on to the valve. I can see a black thread inside the plastic top segment (see photo), but I can’t get the plastic bit off (it doesn’t unscrew). Please see pictures below. Is there a knack to this? Something I’m missing?

I think this is called an aqua stop. Basically, how do I fit the aqua stop to the water supply?
