Looking for some help on an Ariston Margherita 2000 AWD12 Advantage problem. Inherited this machine with no instruction manual.

Quite often after the dryer has been used the machine stops working. When set to a programme the dial will rotate through the programme cycle but the machine doesn’t respond. Didn’t realise that the flashing lights were a fault code so I don’t know what the sequence is but lights are flashing.

Seems to be if we don’t use the machine for a few days then switch it off it resets itself and will work fine for a while before the problem presents itself again.

Any ideas?

Also, whose responsibility is it to check trouser pocket contents prior to loading the machine, the person loading the machine or the person who retires said garment to the washing basket?!?
