Hi Dave, sorry for the late reply but I had other more pressing matters to attend to.
The other day I went to make a video of what the machine was doing to post here. When the machine started I then left it running a few minutes. I heard the sound of water and opened the door. There was a small amount of water dribbling out of the arms. This had not been the case since the problem first arose. Intrigued by this I re-started the machine and after a while water started flowing at full throttle with the arms moving round and spraying as it should. The machine is fully fincational now. All I can put this down to is either there was a loose connection which was “fixed” when I started investigating the problem or there was a blockage and my ckecks on the plumbing cleared it. Either way the machine works.
I now don’t have the worry but I would like to thank you for your help. It is folk like you who help folk like me to fix machines rather than just dumping them.

Thanks for replying Dave. The model no, is SGV43EOGB, an integrated model. I have turned it on after a series of clicks it then makes a sound like a little water passing through a pipe. I opened it and there was a clear sound of gurgling and after lifting the filter out there was a small amount of water in the base.
