    Thanks for your advice, the machine has ran thru 3 cycles all ok.

    I checked the temperature of the relay after the machine had just stopped, it didn’t seem any warmer than the rest of the control pcb.

    Can put the credit card away now!

    Took the control pcb off as you suggested, there was a bad dry joint on the relay for the heater. I’ve cleaned the lead-out pin of the relay and re-soldered that and a few other ‘iffy’ joints. The machine is now on test.

    If the relay has got hot because it’s internal contacts have got resistive, I suppose that could cause the dry joint on the pcb. The relay looks a sod to get off the print, as it’s on a double-sided board.

    I work as Tv engineer so I’m happy soldering etc, but getting that relay off looks difficult. I’ve seen new pcb assemblies for £107.00 ouch!
