How difficult is it to remove the main motor of a washing machine??

How would I find out if it is that??

When we release the door using the lever at the bottom and keep a little pressure on it in a downward motion then close the door it starts working again but when the lever is fully released it stops and the red door light comes on.

Thank you so much for your reply. Removed pump filter and there were no obstructions that we could see – there was about 1/3 of a bowl of water that came out. We found the emergency release and that worked so at least we can get inside now. Checked the pipe the outlet feeds to wasn’t blocked and then plugged it back in again and it started to spin but then stopped mid cycle again after a few minutes. Wondering if it could be something else????
