Thanks for the advice. As it turned out it was the thermal switch by the door which was faulty. Out of circuit is measured as closed but the mere sniff of warm air caused it to open. I could get it to open with the heat from my finger.

That doesn’t surprise me. I plan to carry out the continuity this evening, please advise which pins on the timer unit should be connected together or not as the case may be.

    Cheers.

Is there a datasheet for this reverse timer available, so I can determine whether is functionally sound?

    Hi Dave

I am not sure if this will make it any easier to establish what this part is, but it does seem to have a thin length of metal which sits in a V shape piece of plastic. When I raised this metal arm I could hear a switch contact noise.

If the fault is actually the timer rev what is the best way to prove it is at fault?

    Dave/Martin

Thanks for the info. Before I go ahead and replace this timer unit, can you tell me what the black box next to it is. This black plastic part is not part of the timer block, and looks (very difficult to see) like the micro switch used on the door. Could it be an air flow sensor or weight sensor?

    Hi

Can anyone help with my Creda Condensair model 37754 which doesn’t heat up?
It has the same symptoms as previous discussions although all 3 thermal cut out switches appear OK. The switches when out of circuit are all measuring 0 ohms i.e. closed. Sometimes when you switch the dryer on the heater element will function and then go cold some minutes later, whereas other times the element doesn’t function at all. I have noticed some wires which connect to a small black box (possibly some switch or sensor) next to the motor and timer rev which routes the supply to the element. What does this box do and could it be a contender. I measured the live connection to this black box and it read 180Vac.
